While the use of cryptocurrencies is increasingly popular, there is a rise in competition among the top twenty currencies based on their market capitalization. Recently, Pepe (PEPE) and Polygon (MATIC), competing for 18th and 19th place in this list, have garnered global attention.

Cryptocurrency markets have seen a shift in the top twenty rankings, with PEPE (PEPE) and Polygon (MATIC) now vying for 18th and 19th place, respectively.
This rivalry highlights the volatility of the crypto market and the attention investors are paying to lesser-known cryptocurrencies.
Polygon, which provides solutions for scaling Ethereum, currently ranks 18th with a market capitalization of over $7.2 billion.
However, Pepe, a relative newcomer, is now closing in on Polygon.
In the past week, Pepe has seen a surge in both market capitalization and daily trading volume, rising from $4.6 million to over $6.8 million.
This puts Pepe on the cusp of overtaking MATIC and potentially becoming the ‘new’ MATIC in the coming weeks.
Despite the surge in market capitalization, Pepe’s daily trading volumes are, on average, significantly higher than Polygon’s—over $2 billion and at times reaching close to $4 billion.
In contrast, Polygon’s trading volumes have remained relatively low, occasionally surpassing $1 billion but mostly hovering around $369 billion recently.
