The odds of getting SEC approval for Solana, Litecoin, and XRP exchange-traded funds (ETFs) have never looked stronger.

Jun 11, 2025 at 07:07 pm

Bloomberg ETF analyst James Seyffart says the momentum around altcoin ETFs is real and Q4 2025 could mark a turning point.

The odds of getting SEC approval for Solana, Litecoin, and XRP exchange-traded funds (ETFs) have never looked stronger.

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) could be nearing approval for exchange-traded funds (ETFs) tracking Solana (SOL), Litecoin (LTC), and XRP, according to a Bloomberg report.

The regulator is actively discussing the possibility of allowing staking provisions in a solana ETF, and has begun talks with potential issuers, ETF analyst James Seyffart said on June 10.

Katherine Ross of Blockworks earlier reported on this ongoing back-and-forth, which Seyffart confirmed, adding that the SEC also appears open to permitting staking in ETF structures.

“Conversations around the nuances of staking solana in ETFs is getting underway between SEC and hopeful Solana ETF issuers,” Seyffart said.

His analysis also draws from how regulators currently view these digital assets, especially those already under CFTC oversight via crypto futures markets.

Seyffart’s internal ranking puts Solana and Litecoin at the top with 90% odds, followed by XRP and Dogecoin at 85% and 80% respectively. Cardano (ADA),Polkadot (DOT), and Avalanche (AVAX) are estimated at 75%, while Sui (SUI) lags at 60%. TRON (TRX) is still considered outside the active review process.

Meanwhile, betting markets are reflecting a similar assessment. On Polymarket, a decentralized prediction platform gaining popularity among crypto traders, participants are pricing in a 91% chance for Solana ETF approval in 2025. They also estimate an 87% chance for Ripple’s XRP ETF and an 80% probability of Litecoin ETF approval by the same year-end.

This convergence of opinion among institutional analysts and the retail market bodes well for the prospect of altcoin ETFs launching in Q4 2025.

Seyffart has consistently been one of the more accurate voices in the ETF space, particularly when it comes to crypto fund approval cycles. His confidence in a Dogecoin ETF might surprise some, but with memecoins still driving significant trading volumes, the idea isn’t as far-fetched as it once seemed.

If the SEC grants approval for these ETFs, it will mark the next stage in the increasing institutionalization of the crypto market. First came Bitcoin ETFs, then Ethereum ETFs. Now, altcoins like Solana, Litecoin, XRP, and even Dogecoin are being lined up for their introduction on Wall Street.
