The National Bank of Ukraine has issued a new commemorative coin called “Easter Joy. Pysanka”, which has the shape of a traditional Ukrainian Easter egg.
This was reported by the press service of the National Bank of Ukraine.
The coin is made of 999 silver, the weight of the precious metal in purity is 31.1 g. It is decorated with enamel and local gilding and has a face value of 10 hryvnias.
The reverse of the coin depicts a traditional Easter egg from Odesa region, known as “Sorokoput” or “Cossack levadas”. The pysanka is decorated with original ornaments, each of which has a deep meaning.
The obverse of the coin features a stylized tree of life in the shape of an oak tree in the center of the composition. It is dotted with 12 pysankas depicting ancient symbols of our ancestors.
The design of the unique coin was created by designer Oleksandra Kuchynska.
The mintage is up to 15,000 pieces. The coin will be available for purchase at the NBU’s online numismatic products store and at distributor banks listed on the NBU’s website.
