Meteora Airdrop: How to Earn Yield and Qualify for Future Rewards

Following the collapse of FTX, several web3 platforms were affected, including Mercurial, a leading decentralized exchange on Solana.

In response to the changing landscape, Mercurial has rebranded as Meteora, a Solana-based staking protocol that emphasizes sustainable and long-term liquidity.

This article will provide a guide on how to qualify for Meteora’s future airdrops.

Introduction to Meteora

Those who are familiar with Mercurial will know that the platform offered a unique type of order book called “deep learning market making (DLMM).” This technology was designed to enhance liquidity and reduce slippage, particularly for large trades.

After rebranding as Meteora, the team has decided to integrate DLMM into the protocol's architecture. This move is intended to optimize liquidity and provide benefits to LPs.

Meteora’s Key Products

Being a liquid staking protocol, several pools are offered by Meteora where LPs can provide liquidity. Currently, the pools available are SOL, ETH, and MATIC.

By providing liquidity to these pools, LPs will be able to earn a portion of the trading fees generated on the platform. The fees are collected in the protocol’s native token, MTR.

Moreover, LPs will also receive derivative tokens, such as stSOL, stETH, and stMATIC, which represent the staked assets. These derivative tokens can be used to participate in governance or be traded on secondary markets.

Meteora’s Key Features

As mentioned earlier, Meteora is utilizing DLMM. With this, the team assures the platform’s LPs that this feature will lead to:

Optimized liquidity: Through DLMM, LPs can expect efficient liquidity provision and aggregation across different order books. This capability aims to enhance the overall liquidity available on the platform.

Reduced slippage: Especially for large trades, DLMM technology is designed to minimize slippage and ensure better trade execution prices. By optimizing liquidity, LPs can benefit from reduced price impact on their trades.

Increased capital efficiency: With the integration of DLMM, Meteora aims to maximize capital efficiency for LPFs (liquidity provider funds). This feature is crucial for protocols that aspire to achieve sustainable liquidity.

How to be a Liquidity Provider in Meteora

To become a liquidity provider in Meteora, follow these steps:

Visit the Meteora website and connect your Solana wallet (e.g., Phantom, Solflare).

On the home page, you will see the available pools (currently SOL, ETH, and MATIC).

Choose a pool that you wish to provide liquidity for and click on the "Deposit" button.

Specify the amount of the asset you want to deposit and click on "Confirm."

Once the transaction is processed, your assets will be credited to the selected pool, and you will start earning a portion of the trading fees.

Take note that rewards will be received after providing liquidity. The longer the assets are deposited, the more rewards will be received.

About the Airdrop

As mentioned in the introduction, this article aims to guide readers on how to be qualified for Meteora’s future airdrops. However, at the time of writing, there is no official announcement regarding airdrops from the Meteora team.

Once more information becomes available, we will be sure to update this article and announce it on our social media channels. In the meantime, you can follow Meteora on Twitter or join their Discord community for the latest updates.
