MetaMask Expands Beyond EVM-Compatible Chains with Native Solana (SOL) Support in May 2025

MetaMask co-founder and CEO Dan Finlay confirmed that MetaMask will launch native support for Solana (SOL) in May 2025.

MetaMask Expands Beyond EVM-Compatible Chains with Native Solana (SOL) Support in May 2025

MetaMask, the popular cryptocurrency wallet, will add support for Solana (SOL) in May 2025, the company's CEO, Dan Finlay, confirmed on X.

The update will allow MetaMask users to natively store SOL tokens and interact with Solana dApps directly through the wallet.

This marks the first time that MetaMask is expanding beyond EVM-compatible chains, integrating Solana's blockchain into its ecosystem.

"We're excited to announce that we'll be launching Solana support in May 2025!" Finlay wrote in a post on X, formerly Twitter.

"This integration will enable users to access Solana assets natively, further enhancing cross-chain functionality within the MetaMask ecosystem."

Earlier this week, Fordefi announced support for the Eclipse Foundation's dApps. The integration will offer users transaction simulation, risk alerts, and fast staking, trading, and bridging - all powered by Solana's speed and Ethereum's security.

The company also announced the launch of its new multi-chain wallet, which is currently in beta. The wallet is designed to provide users with a seamless and secure way to manage their cryptocurrency assets across multiple blockchains.

"We are thrilled to be adding support for the Eclipse Foundation's dApps to our platform," said Pouru Javanpour, CEO of Fordefi. "This partnership will allow us to offer our users even more value and utility as we continue to build the future of finance."

The development comes as more and more institutions are showing interest in Solana. Earlier this year, hedge fund manager Cathie Wood expressed optimism over Solana despite its recent struggles.

"We like Solana. We think it has great potential. We’re going to keep an eye on it," said Wood, the CEO and founder of ARK Invest.

Solana is known for its high throughput and low transaction fees, making it an attractive chain for dApps. However, it has also been subject to several network outages, which have tarnished its image.
