Even during rehab, Max Scherzer knows how to stay in the spotlight and give fans a laugh. The Toronto Blue Jays right-hander

Max Scherzer is keeping fans entertained even during rehab. The Toronto Blue Jays pitcher, currently recovering from a nerve-related thumb issue, took to X (formerly Twitter) to poke fun at longtime MLB umpire CB Bucknor. In typical Scherzer fashion, he didn't hold back.
"Crazy how time flies when you're having fun. Feels like yesterday I was getting lit up by the Mets and CB Bucknor was flipping a coin to decide balls and strikes," Scherzer wrote in a post on Thursday. "But hey, at least we'd always know what the coin landed on."
The timing of this post couldn't have been better. With Scherzer nearing a return to the mound, he recently threw what manager John Schneider called a "heavy bullpen"; fans are already buzzing about his potential impact on the Blue Jays' rotation. But while his physical recovery is making headlines in Toronto, it's his quick wit and unfiltered humor that stole the show online this week.
Even though Scherzer is getting the most out of his rehabilitation, the Blue Jays will ultimately welcome him back into a rotation that might need some assistance. With a 4.24 ERA overall, Toronto's starting pitching currently ranks in the bottom 10 of all MLB teams. The performance, injuries, and inconsistent play has plagued the staff outside of top arms like José Berríos and Kevin Gausman.
Whether it was sarcasm or just a fun jab, the post reminded baseball fans why Scherzer is such a beloved figure in the game. His intensity on the mound is legendary, but off the field, he's also known for being outspoken and, at times, hilarious.
As expected, fans on X jumped in with a flurry of jokes, memes, and GIFs in support of Scherzer's tweet. From referencing Bucknor's infamously missed calls to making fake coin-flip graphics, the responses poured in fast, and some were comedy gold.
"If CB was flipping a coin, at least he'd be more consistent, ffs," said one fan. Another added, "Max, you had me at 'lit up by Mets.'"
The post has since garnered over 2 million views and 44,000 likes, with fans continuing to share their reactions and amusement.
