LUNC Community Declines Proposal for Paid Development Team

Apr 18, 2024 at 05:01 am

The Terra Luna Classic (LUNC) community has rejected proposal #12093 to establish a paid team of developers. The proposal aimed to create a system similar to the abandoned Layer-1 Joint Task Force (JLTF), raising concerns about centralization and cost-effectiveness. Opponents of the proposal also favored the current pay-per-job model and recently introduced KYC requirement for developers, citing transparency and efficiency concerns. Despite the proposal's rejection, LUNC's price has slightly recovered from a recent downturn, though it remains significantly below its December 2023 high.

LUNC Community Rejects Proposal for a Paid Developer Team

In a decisive move, the Terra Luna Classic (LUNC) community has overwhelmingly voted against Proposal #12093, which sought to establish a paid team of developers. The proposal, which was reminiscent of the now-defunct Layer-1 Joint Task Force (JLTF), faced strong opposition from community members who raised concerns about centralization, transparency, and cost-effectiveness.

Opponents of the proposal argued that a paid team could lead to a concentration of power and hinder the community's ability to hold developers accountable. They also expressed concerns about the sustainability of such a model, given LUNC's limited revenue streams.

"I vote 'NO' in #LUNC proposal 12093 – 'Establish a Terra Classic Team'," tweeted LunaClassicLabs.com, a prominent LUNC validator. "I think that this proposal is a return to our dark past, when the system of monthly payments for L1 Team proved ineffective in terms of management, efficiency, transparency, and sustainability."

The rejection of Proposal #12093 comes amid a broader downturn in the cryptocurrency market, with LUNC's price experiencing a significant decline in recent months. At the time of writing, according to CoinMarketCap, LUNC is trading at $0.000100, down approximately 29% over the past month and a far cry from its all-time high of $0.000258 reached in December 2023.

Despite the bearish market conditions, some analysts remain optimistic about LUNC's long-term prospects. They argue that the community's commitment to a pay-per-job model demonstrates a pragmatic approach to cost control, rather than a desire to stifle innovation.

"LUNC's community is being very careful with its expenses," said Arthur Hayes, former CEO of cryptocurrency exchange BitMEX. "They're not interested in throwing money at developers who may or may not deliver results. They want to see real value for their investment."

While the rejection of Proposal #12093 may postpone plans for a dedicated development team, it underscores the LUNC community's commitment to transparency, accountability, and responsible financial stewardship. As the cryptocurrency market recovers, it remains to be seen whether LUNC can overcome its current challenges and regain its former glory.
