LINK Holders Moving Tokens From Exchanges: Are They Accumulating?
Oct 24, 2024 at 10:00 am
Chainlink is the leading middleware, linking on-chain dapps with external data securely. While the platform is critical in many crypto sectors, especially DeFi, LINK has recently struggled for momentum.

Chainlink (LINK) price action has been dull recently, with the token struggling to gain momentum despite being a key player in several crypto sectors, particularly decentralized finance (DeFi). However, on-chain data from IntoTheBlock suggests that more LINK holders are moving their tokens from top exchanges like Binance and Coinbase.
In a post on X, the analytics platform observed that the exchange flow over the past month has been negative, indicating sustained withdrawals. Typically, when tokens are moved from exchanges, it could signal that the owners are confident about the upcoming scenario.
Considering that LINK, the ERC-20 token, is utilized by several DeFi protocols, this might indicate that holders are interested in engaging with these dapps, potentially to earn passive income. Hence, the more transfers from centralized ramps could suggest that prices may expand in tandem, which is ultimately positive for LINK bulls.
According to Etherscan, Chainlink has a top supply of 1 billion LINK, which is distributed among 721,996 unique addresses as of October 23. These holders have moved LINK over 15.8 million times.
Delving deeper, on-chain data reveals that Binance holds more than 4.2% of the total supply, with LINK under their control exceeding $479 million at spot rates.
Chainlink Building: Will Price Break Above $20?
With IntoTheBlock data pointing to a net outflow from exchanges, there is a possibility that LINK will find support and continue the uptrend of the past few trading days.
However, even if prices break higher, rejecting bears, bulls must decisively expand above the double top at around $13. The eventual spike will open the door for LINK bulls to create a solid base for a rally to $20.
The pace of this growth will depend on the performance of top altcoins, including Ethereum. If ETH prices recover, surging above $3,000, it could reinvigorate DeFi and NFT demand, uplifting LINK in the process.
Moreover, the team's progress will continue to drive the price. On October 22, Chainlink Labs announced the launch of Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) Private Transactions, a feature that enables data privacy without violating existing laws governing cross-chain transactions.
The feature is powered by the middleware’s Blockchain Privacy Manager, allowing partner banks and other financial entities to securely connect private chains with other ledgers when sharing sensitive information.
