VTuber Ouro Kronii created a parody meme coin called $Kronii Coin as a joke during a January 2025 live stream. During the stream, Kronii pretended to launch a cryptocurrency, complete with a made-up coin name and logo. She used nonsense crypto jargon throughout the stream to hype up the coin, poking fun at the recent trend of pump and dump crypto scams.

The stream inspired memes, including artwork that parodied YouTube thumbnails about the coin being a scam and memes about other VTubers losing money on the coin. After the stream, some people purportedly took advantage of the situation and made real $Kronii coins, despite none of these being official or endorsed by Ouro Kronii.

Origin

On January 20th, 2025, VTuber Ouro Kronii made a post to X / Twitter[1] about the launch of $Kronii, a meme coin named after the VTuber. The post included an image of Kronii herself holding up a sign that said "Buy $Kronii." Some fans of the streamer believed that her account had been hacked to promote a scam coin.

The post linked to her YouTube[2] channel, which hosted a satirical live stream that announced and hyped up the coin. The stream had a message that said "Don't take this seriously, this is satire" in the bottom right corner. Throughout the stream, Ouro Kronii spoke about the coin in a rambling manner, using made-up technical terms and buzzwords to describe the coin's features. The stream gained over 279,000 views in a day.

Spread

The stream and the idea of $Kronii inspired memes over the following days, including posts by people who pretended to have lost large sums of money to the coin and parodies of YouTube thumbnails about the coin post-scam. For example, on January 20th, 2025, X[3] user @DoomSteve posted a parody Coffeezilla thumbnail that garnered over 4,100 likes in a day.

On January 21st, X[4] user @2nochuu posted a version of the Ouhhh… Husbant meme that referenced the loss of money due to investing in $Kronii, garnering over 7,100 likes in under a day.

That same day, a post was made to /r/Hololive[5] that warned users about unofficial, unendorsed coins using the name $Kronii, urging users not to invest in them
