The U.S. Mint released two coins for collectors last week—the 2025 Kennedy half dollar and the proof 2025 American Buffalo gold coin. Each was a top seller for the Mint.
Two-roll sets and 200-coin bags of 2025 John F. Kennedy half dollars launched on May 6. Featuring circulating-quality coins from the Denver and Philadelphia Mints, early sales totaled 2,252,760 coins, with product splits of 6,246 bags and 25,089 two-roll sets. The 2025-W $50 Proof American Buffalo Gold Coin launched on May 8 with four-day sales of 2,661, ranking fourth among the Mint’s weekly top sellers despite its $4,240 price. Following a drop in gold prices, the coin’s price was adjusted to $4,190 on Monday.
By comparison, last year’s 24-karat proof Gold Buffalo opened with 4,047 sold during the same period, debuting at a lower $3,240 price. Still available and now also priced at $4,190, its total rose by 95 from the prior week to 9,804. The 2023-dated coin posted a stronger start of 8,305, launching at $2,940. No longer available, it last reported sales of 15,911. The 2022 edition opened with 11,495 sold at a $2,790 price and ended with reported sales of 15,943.

In its latest report, the U.S. Mint published sales data for 548 numismatic products. Of those, 50 outperformed their prior weekly totals, down from 116 in the previous report. One product saw a week-over-week gain of more than 1,000 units, compared to two in the earlier period.
Meanwhile, three products recorded a sales decline — all very modest — two more than the prior week.
