Hamster Kombat: The Rise and Fall of the World's Biggest Telegram Game

Nov 05, 2024 at 08:01 pm

Barely three months ago, the game was arguably one of the world's biggest, boasting over 300 million user base at the time. As of today, however, a lot has changed and Hamster Kombat's active players have dwindled to around 41 million.

Hamster Kombat: The Rise and Fall of the World's Biggest Telegram Game

The popularity of tap-to-earn Telegram game Hamster Kombat appears to be waning, with a recent report indicating an 86% decrease in active players over several months.

At launch, Hamster attracted attention for its integration with Telegram, which boasts a vast user base. The game quickly gained traction, becoming one of the world's largest, with over 300 million users. However, recent data from Protos shows a significant decline in this number, with around 41 million active players remaining.

Hamster aimed to bridge the gap between traditional gaming and blockchain technology, offering a unique approach to gaming that was expected to revolutionize the industry.

Despite the initial excitement, several factors seem to have contributed to Hamster's declining popularity.

One key issue was the game's token economy, which promised substantial rewards for players but ultimately failed to deliver on expectations. This left players feeling dissatisfied and betrayed after investing significant time and effort.

Furthermore, Hamster's strict anti-cheat policies resulted in the disqualification or banning of some users. A massive scale of disqualifications occurred, with approximately 2.3 million accounts being suspended and a驚人的 6.8 billion HamsterKombat's in-game token, HMSTR HMSTR $0.00245 24h volatility: 2.0% Market cap: $157.48 M Vol. 24h: $32.66 M tokens being seized. Many users in this category felt they were treated unfairly, which may have prompted the mass exodus from the gaming platform.

Moreover, Hamster also attracted negative attention from some government officials due to its impact on the younger generation. For instance, officials in Iran expressed concern about the game distracting people from voting exercises, while a Russian lawmaker highlighted the potential for scams and called for a ban on the game
