Haliey Welch, or as many know her, Hawk Tuah girl, has explained that she’s in the middle of ‘rebranding’ after her cryptocurrency controversy last year.

The 22-year-old has been on a wild ride since she went viral for her NSFW ‘Hawk Tuah’ clip, which was later used as a meme.

After she was suddenly hit with fame, she soon decided to use this to start her social media career.

From there, she started a podcast, which was produced by Jake Paul’s Betr media company, and her own merch store before she ventured into the world of cryptocurrency.

The coin, which was never registered with The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), nosedived within hours, with Bloomberg Law reporting the digital coin lost more than 90 percent of its value during that time.

Some fans would go on to claim that they’d lost their life savings after investing in her coin, and Welch confirmed that she was working with the authorities to help her fans and to get to the bottom of the issue.

Anyway, since the whole incident went down, it appears that she has been thinking about her future - and a possible rebrand.

Welch has just made her public return on Friday (May 2) in a Celebrity Poker Tour (CPT) event at ARIA's PokerGO Studio.

She took part in the game which would provide $10,000 to the winner, as well as featuring celebrities, including chess streamer Alexandra Botez, athletes Jose Canseco, Adrian Peterson and Mackenzie Dern, and influencers CJ So Cool and Suede Brooks.

At the table, Welch explained how she was feeling about her new venture, telling PokerNews: "I'm a little nervous. It's a smaller (one-table event), so everyone's going to be watching our table. And I still don't know what I'm doing."

"I'm in the middle of rebranding right now," she continued. "I've had a lot of time to think. I want to rebrand."

As for what she’s going to do, she remarked: "I guess you'll have to watch and see."

In the end, she came in fifth place, whilst influencer and model Brooks emerged victorious and proudly and won the game.

In 2024, an investigation by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission was launched following the rapid rise and decline of Welch's memecoin.

However, Welch's attorney confirmed she wouldn't be facing any charges as a result of the investigation, as he said: "The SEC closed the investigation without making any findings against, or seeking any monetary sanctions from, Haliey.

"Because they did not bring any action against her, there are no restrictions on what she can do in regards to crypto or securities in the future."
