Extreme Bullish Sentiment Hits Crypto: Opportunity or Setup?

Extreme Bullish Sentiment Hits Crypto: Opportunity or Setup?

Crypto traders are entering an interesting phase with an abundance of bullish sentiment, sparking optimism — and caution — among analysts.

According to Joao Wedson, CEO of Alpharactal and verified author on CryptoQuant and CoinMarketCap, sentiment indicators are showing extremely bullish signals.

“Alpharactal’s Total Crypto Sentiment is showing oversold bullish divergence after reaching a top. Relative Strength Index (RSI) also shows oversold conditions and a bullish divergence, indicating that the selling pressure might be decreasing. We’re observing a potential bottom formation, signaled by oversold RSI and bullish divergence in the nine-period average of the Relative Strength Index (RSI) / Total Crypto Sentiment,” Wedson stated.

However, while this might be seen as positive by traders hoping for continued price increases, Wedson also has a note of caution: “That’s both great — and dangerous.”

He explains that throughout history, bull markets have often seen euphoric sentiment coincide with surges of new capital and result in sharp rallies. But these conditions can also serve as a recipe for setting up classic investor traps, notably before a swift reversal.

“Don’t get caught up in the hype. Use this signal wisely. Stick to your strategy,” Wedson advises.

In a related note, renowned analyst Michaël van de Poppe has warned about a “classic liquidity trap” as Bitcoin (BTC) failed to sustain a breakout above its recent highs.

According to the analyst, a similar pattern may play out around the $100K level, where he expects a pullback to absorb liquidity before any true breakout to new all-time highs can occur.

“Those are the zones to accumulate your Bitcoin. Key support levels are also good entry points,” van de Poppe said, highlighting the importance of remaining disciplined in volatile markets. As the analyst notes, fib levels provide support, and a drop below $40K could open up opportunities to buy lower.

Analysts optimistic on crypto despite bullish sentiment

As the crypto market teeters between exuberance and caution, analysts are emphasizing the importance of discipline and strategic positioning in navigating the dynamic landscape of digital assets.

While bullish momentum dominates the narrative, both Wedson and Van de Poppe’s insights highlight the essence of approaching market trends with a balanced perspective.

Despite the evident bullish bias, both analysts advise investors to maintain a cautious approach, considering the inherent volatility of cryptocurrencies.
