President Donald Trump is set to host a private dinner at his Washington-area golf club for the top holders of his recently launched cryptocurrency

Former President Donald Trump is set to host a private dinner at his Washington, D.C.,-area golf club with the top holders of the recently launched cryptocurrency token named after him, according to an announcement posted Wednesday.
The event, described as an “intimate private dinner,” will take place at Trump National Golf Club in the capital on May 18 and will feature discussions on the future of cryptocurrency, among other topics.
The gathering is open to the top 220 average holders of the “$TRUMP” meme coin from April 23 to May 12. The top 25 holders will receive additional access, including a VIP reception and a special tour. Initially, the event page referenced a “Special VIP White House Tour,” but that mention was later removed.
Trump’s meme coin, launched just days before his January inauguration, has been promoted by Metaphysic, a company in which Trump disclosed a “significant interest” in a recent SEC filing. The coin, known for its likeness of Trump’s image, began at a price of $0.01. Following the announcement of the dinner, the price experienced a surge.
The Trump family’s involvement in crypto extends beyond the meme coin. Last year, Trump’s sons Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump launched World Liberty Financial, a company developing a dollar-pegged stablecoin. These ventures could benefit from pending crypto-friendly legislation in Congress, although some lawmakers, including House Financial Services Chair French Hill (R-NJ), have said that Trump’s business ties to crypto have complicated the legislative process.
In March, Trump signed an executive order to create a federal “strategic reserve” of cryptocurrency assets seized through law enforcement actions. The move was seen as a response to concerns about the potential misuse of cryptocurrencies for illicit activities.
A disclaimer on the dinner event page mentions that it is organized by Fight Fight Fight LLC, and Trump is participating as a guest without any intent to solicit funds. Promotional material for the event encouraged increased investment in the $TRUMP token to improve the chances of securing a seat at the dinner.
