May 09, 2024 at 07:24 pm

After a strong week, the cryptocurrency market is falling, with Bitcoin dropping to $60.650, its lowest point recently. However, Toncoin and AKT have shown resilience, gaining approximately 5% each. Ethereum and Ripple experienced moderate declines, while Binance Coin and Cardano gained 3%. Despite these exceptions, the total cryptocurrency market value has fallen by $20 billion to below $2.4 trillion.

Cryptocurrency Market Witnesses Significant Decline, Bitcoin Drops Below $61,000

On Thursday, May 9, 2024, the cryptocurrency market experienced a sharp decline, with Bitcoin (BTC), the world's leading cryptocurrency, witnessing a significant drop. As of 2:00 PM UTC, Bitcoin's price had fallen to $60,650, marking a substantial decline from its recent high of approximately $64,000.

This downward movement contrasts with the resilience demonstrated by certain altcoins. Toncoin (TON) and AKT have recorded notable gains, increasing by approximately 5% each. Ethereum (ETH), Ripple (XRP), Solana (SOL), Dogecoin (DOGE), and Polkadot (DOT) have experienced moderate declines.

After a strong surge last week, which saw Bitcoin rise from $59,000 to $62,500, the cryptocurrency has faced resistance as it attempts to break through the $65,000 mark. Despite briefly reaching $65,500, selling pressure has pushed the price down to its current level.

The last 24 hours have been particularly challenging for Bitcoin, with its price falling close to $60,600. Although it has recovered slightly, it remains down 2.5% on the day. Bitcoin's market capitalization hovers around $1.19 trillion, while its dominance over altcoins has decreased to 50.5%.

In contrast to the general trend, Toncoin (TON) has emerged as a standout performer, recording a 5% increase and trading close to $6. Binance Coin (BNB) and Cardano (ADA) have also shown gains, adding more than 3% to their value.

Despite these positive exceptions, the total value of the cryptocurrency market has experienced a drop of $20 billion, falling below $2.4 trillion. Since last Monday, the overall market capitalization has declined by approximately $170 billion.

Analysts attribute the recent market decline to several factors, including profit-taking among investors, concerns over macroeconomic conditions, and regulatory uncertainties. The ongoing geopolitical tensions and the conflict in Ukraine have also contributed to market volatility.

Despite the current downturn, some experts remain optimistic about the long-term prospects of cryptocurrency. They believe that the underlying technology and growing institutional adoption will support the recovery and continued growth of the market.

Investors are advised to remain vigilant and conduct thorough research before making any investment decisions. The cryptocurrency market remains highly volatile, and sudden price swings are not uncommon.
