Chainlink Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) is now compatible with Optimism’s SuperchainERC20 standard, marking a significant step towards seamless asset transfers within the rapidly expanding Superchain ecosystem.

The integration, which was first deployed on Soneium blockchain with Astar Network’s ASTR token, is a critical component in unifying liquidity and user experience across Ethereum, Optimism, and Polkadot networks.

Chainlink, Astar Network, and Optimism announced their collaboration on June 11, 2025. It positions ASTR as the first token to achieve complete compatibility with both SuperchainERC20 and Chainlink CCIP. This dual integration enables ASTR, the native token of Astar Network’s layer-1 blockchain on Polkadot, to move seamlessly across Optimism’s Superchain networks. These chains include Base, OP Mainnet, and the upcoming World Chain.

Optimism is rapidly expanding its Superchain, which is powered by the modular and open-source OP Stack. Their goal is to create a single, interconnected ecosystem where users and developers can seamlessly interact across various chains.

Recently, Optimism announced the integration of its Superchain with Chainlink Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP). This integration is a crucial milestone in both protocols’ efforts to facilitate seamless cross-chain transactions and expand the reach of the Web3 space.

The collaboration will see the complete integration of Optimism’s SuperchainERC20 standard with Chainlink’s CCT standard. This partnership marks a significant step towards unifying liquidity and user experience across Ethereum, Optimism, and Polkadot.

Astar Network is the first to launch an asset with both CCIP and SuperchainERC20 compatibility. It's also the first to deploy an asset on Soneium, showcasing the potential for rapid integration of other tokens like WETH, WBTC, and FDIAMO in the coming months.

As projects deploy their tokens to be compatible with SuperchainERC20, they will automatically gain cross-chain functionality once Optimism’s interop layer launches.

Optimism is aiming to unify its 29 OP Stack chains, which together process 36.4% of all Layer 2 transactions. This milestone is part of a three-stage roadmap, which will also see the launch of a shared message-passing protocol and a fault-proof system.

For Astar Network, this integration marks a connection between Polkadot and Ethereum, two historically siloed ecosystems. It also highlights how CCIP can be used to connect EVM and non-EVM chains. Developers are already planning similar integrations for other tokens, which could unlock trillions of dollars in liquidity within decentralized finance (DeFi).

This partnership showcases the synergy of merging SuperchainERC20’s standardization with CCIP’s security in setting the stage for scalable and user-friendly interoperability.
