Celebi ex And Serperior Deck List

I was incredibly surprised when I opened my first pack of Pokemon TCG Pocket’s Mythical Island expansion and found an immersive rare Celebi ex staring back at me.

I was very surprised when I opened my first pack of Pokemon TCG Pocket’s Mythical Island expansion and found an immersive rare Celebi ex staring back at me. After a quick journey through its forest home, I took a look at its stats. It looked okay. 130HP is alright. Its Powerful Bloom attack is a bit random, but could be fun. And then I pulled Serperior.

Serperior’s ability counts all Grass-type energy on your Grass-type Pokemon as two energy. So, as soon as you’ve got Serperior set up on your bench, Celebi can fire off a Powerful Bloom for a single energy. Then it ramps up incredibly fast. A second energy will give you four coin flips and potentially 200 damage. Three energy? Six coin flips. It’s obscene.

This strategy relies on a few different pieces being in place, but once you’ve got Serperior on your bench, Celebi turns from lovable onion into fearsome beast. However, once you look deeper into Mythical Island, there are yet more synergies to be found. It’s almost like the developers thought about this before releasing it.

Serperior’s Jungle Totem ability doesn’t stack, so having two on your bench doesn’t grant four energy per Grass energy attached.

Dhelmise is a great basic Pokemon for this deck. It’s got 100HP, which is decent for the early stages of the game, and Energy Whip does 20 damage for one Grass-type energy. However, if it has three extra Grass-type energy attached, that increases to a whopping 90, which will KO most basic and a lot of stage one Pokemon. Remember that, with Serperior on your bench, this only needs two energy to be fully powered up, and suddenly Dhelmise has anchored a place in this deck.

There’s an issue, though. All of this relies on Serperior being on the field. As most players will tell you, we’ve all struggled to find Charmeleon or Kirlia at the crucial moment. Serperior makes or breaks this deck. So we need a way to reliably get Serperior on the board.

Enter Chatot. I know, we’ve got a lot of Pokemon here already, but hear me out. A 60HP basic Pokemon, Chatot works a little like Meowth in that its utility is setting things up. Its attack, Mimic, costs one colourless energy and shuffles your hand into your deck. You then draw a card for each card your opponent has in their hand.

This is a great way of getting more chances to find Servine. Poke Balls get Snivy, Chatot recycling helps to evolve it. Then you just pop energy onto Celebi and profit. Here’s the Pokemon TCG Pocket Celebi ex and Serperior deck list in full:

I’m not set on the Supporters – Erika and Sabrina could move, but they’re staples that I’m starting with for now. It’s a fun, powerful deck to play casually, and judging by the thanks I get from my opponents, people like seeing it, too.

Now, I don’t think this deck is completely broken, because it’s got plenty of counters. Charizard ex and Arcanine ex are incredibly popular at the moment, and both have type advantage over this deck.

Mew ex also counters just about anything with Genome Hacking. It won’t double the number of coins it’s flipping, but it will still get plenty of damage off against your Celebi ex.

Alakazam, a card I’ve had a lot of fun with because people don’t expect it, will also have a field day against this deck. Its attack deals increasing damage for every energy attached to the opposing Pokemon, so any card like Celebi ex that wants as many energies as possible will suffer terrible fate when faced with Alakazam’s dreaded spoons.

Even with plenty of counterplay, now is the perfect time to experiment with fun combos like Celebi ex and Serperior.
