Blast Airdrop Set for June 26th, Enhanced Allocation Announced
May 16, 2024 at 06:07 pm
Ethereum Layer-2 network Blast has announced an airdrop on June 26th, distributing BLAST tokens to developers and early users. The airdrop has been delayed from its initial May date, but the team has increased the distribution share as compensation. Developers will receive half of the tokens through Blast Gold points, incentivizing dApp development, while early adopters will receive the other half. Additionally, Blast has initiated a 15 million Blast Gold Points distribution to dApp developers to promote growth and user engagement. With over $2.3 billion in TVL, Blast's layer-2 scaling solution has gained significant attention and support.

Ethereum Layer-2 Network Blast Announces June 26th Airdrop with Enhanced Allocation
Blast, an Ethereum Layer-2 scaling solution, has officially announced the highly anticipated airdrop of its native BLAST tokens on June 26th. The announcement, made through a post on Blast's social media channels, also revealed an increase in the airdrop distribution share as compensation for a slight delay from the initially planned May launch date.
Background and Delayed Launch
Founded by Tieshun Roquerre, the creator of the popular NFT marketplace Blur, Blast has gained momentum within the crypto community. The airdrop, initially scheduled for May, was postponed to June 26th. The Blast team acknowledged the delay in their statement:
"We understand that this is past our initial estimate of May, and we apologize for the inconvenience caused. To compensate for this, the airdrop allocation will be increased accordingly."
The announcement has been well-received by the community, as it offsets the delay with a higher token allocation.
Airdrop and Token Allocation
The airdrop will involve the distribution of BLAST tokens according to a well-defined allocation strategy designed to reward developers and early users who have contributed to the network's growth:
Developers' Share: Half of the total token allocation will be distributed to developers through Blast Gold Points. These points are awarded to creators who build decentralized applications (dApps) on the Blast network. The goal is to incentivize development and foster ecosystem growth. Developers can subsequently distribute these points to their users, ensuring active participation and engagement.
Early Users' Share: The remaining half of the tokens will be allocated to early adopters, including those who bridged funds to the network ahead of its mainnet launch in late February. Collectively, users bridged over $2.3 billion worth of cryptocurrency to earn points for the airdrop.
Blast Gold Points Distribution
In parallel with the upcoming airdrop, Blast has initiated its third Blast Gold Points distribution event. A total of 15 million points have been allocated to various dApps on the platform. Blast Gold points operate similarly to airdrop points but are specifically targeted at dApp developers to encourage ongoing growth and user engagement. Developers are obligated to distribute all received points to their users. Notable recipients include Fantasy Top, a popular NFT game centered around cryptocurrency influencers, and Thruster Finance, Blast's native decentralized exchange.
Funding and Growth
Blast's operations commenced in November 2022 in early access mode, backed by a substantial $20 million investment from reputable firms such as Paradigm and Standard Crypto. The platform's total value locked (TVL) currently exceeds $2.3 billion, showcasing its rapid growth and the strong support it has garnered from both the community and investors.
Conclusion
Despite the schedule adjustment, the upcoming Blast airdrop for Ethereum's Layer-2 network is poised to benefit token holders and establish a foundation for further incentive-based user engagement. The increased allocation compensates for the delay while the platform continues to experience remarkable growth and community adoption.
