BlackRock's $292 Million Bitcoin ETF Acquisition Sets New Standard
Oct 28, 2024 at 01:43 pm
When it comes to buying Bitcoin (BTC), leading investment asset manager BlackRock has maintained a dominant position.

Investment management behemoth BlackRock continues to lead the pack in Bitcoin (BTC) acquisitions, snapping up $292 million in the flagship cryptocurrency on Friday, outpacing the combined inflows of the other three Bitcoin ETF issuers, U.Today reports.
According to data provided by Farside Investors, inflows into BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) stood at nearly $300 million. Notably, the inflows also brought the firm's total net inflows to a record $23.98 billion. Interestingly, BlackRock has been leading the inflows over the past few days.
On Oct. 24, there were remarkable inflows of $165.54 million, largely into BlackRock's Bitcoin ETF.
Investors’ enthusiasm and confidence in the company's cryptocurrency exchange-traded fund offerings seem to be growing. While Grayscale charges a 1.5% sponsor fee, BlackRock is notably levying a much lower fee of 0.25%. IBIT might be more appealing to both institutional and retail investors, especially those looking for a trade-off between cost efficiency and exposure, owing to its lower fee structure.
The data also highlights how institutional investors are keen on using ETFs to gain exposure to the volatile cryptocurrency sector.
Coming in second after BlackRock's IBIT is Fidelity's FBTC, which saw inflows of $56.9 million. On Oct. 14, FBTC was in the lead with $239.3 million in inflows into the spot Bitcoin ETF. The market leader since then, BlackRock, had minimal inflows of $79.5 million on that particular day.
ARK, Fidelity and BlackRock Lead as Bitcoin ETF Space Expands
$33.4 million in inflows were seen into ARK 21Shares ARKB on Friday, while products from Invesco, Franklin Templeton, Valkyrie and WisdomTree saw inflows of zero dollars. Overall, the ecosystem around Bitcoin ETFs is rapidly expanding.
Many speculate that Bitcoin exchange-traded funds will eventually collect over 1 million BTC, surpassing the holdings of Satoshi Nakamoto.
Among the issuers, BlackRock leads the pack with total ETF holdings now at 97% of the one million BTC goal.
