Bitcoin Could Reach $700,000 with Institutional Support
Aug 01, 2024 at 11:45 pm
Large investors are gradually investing in Bitcoin. Fidelity has recommended a 1-3% allocation, while BlackRock has proposed up to 85%.

Bitcoin (BTC) price could reach as high as $700,000 or even $24 million per coin, according to crypto analyst Willy Woo. This projection is based on the assumption that financial institutions will continue to increase their adoption of cryptocurrency.
According to Woo's calculations, if institutions allocate 3% of global wealth to BTC, the price could reach $700,000. Woo’s analysis is based on the premise that BTC adoption will increase at an accelerating rate.
Large investors have been gradually entering the crypto space. Fidelity has suggested a 1-3% allocation, while BlackRock has proposed up to 85%.
Collectively, these institutions could have a significant impact on BTC price. If institutions opt for a 3% allocation, BTC price could reach $700,000.
Woo's calculations factor in the world's total wealth, which exceeds $500 trillion. With increasing institutional interest, BTC's market capitalization could drastically increase.
However, for this to occur, the adoption rate must surpass 16%. It has taken 15 years for Bitcoin to achieve 4.7% global adoption.
According to Woo, adoption will accelerate, mirroring the growth of the internet. If this trend continues, BTC could reach its “ultimate price.”
BTC price is influenced by ETF activity
Based on historical chart patterns, BTC is set to hit a new all-time high by September. Currently, BTC is trading at $64,710, which is still 12% below the record high of $73,750 set on March 14.
The recent price increase has been minimal, with a gain of only 2.9% over the past one month. This is largely due to the slowing inflows into spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) in the United States.
As of July 31, only $300,000 was allocated to Bitcoin by US ETFs, compared with a net outflow of $18.3 million on July 30.
Collectively, ETFs have a strong influence on BTC price. As of Feb. 15, 2023, an estimated 75% of new investment in BTC was through ETFs. Higher ETF inflows could significantly boost BTC price.
BTC poised for major adoption growth
On July 24, over 75% of short-term BTC holders were in profit, which could put further upward pressure on Bitcoin. STH behavior is often linked to retail interest in BTC.
Woo also highlights the significance of the adoption curve. He notes that 16% marks the early majority and 50% signifies the late majority. Penetration into wealth management is expected to fall within this range.
Furthermore, Woo's analysis suggests that Bitcoin adoption could follow a pattern similar to the uptake of the internet. During the final five years, the internet experienced a rapid surge in users.
BTC may experience a comparable surge in the upcoming years. Woo's projections suggest that BTC could reach its “ultimate price” as a result of this growth.
Despite Woo's optimistic predictions, Bitcoin faces challenges. ETF inflows have slowed, affecting the price momentum. However, institutional investment remains a critical factor for future growth.
Woo's projection of $700K BTC hinges on continued institutional support. If adoption surpasses 16%, BTC could see substantial gains. But reaching this threshold depends on sustained interest from big investors.
Collectively, these institutions could have a significant impact on BTC price. If institutions opt for a 3% allocation, BTC price could reach $700,000.
