Bitcoin's (CRYPTO: BTC) pseudonymous creator, Satoshi Nakamoto's estimated fortune has surged sharply, surpassing that of tech billionaire Bill Gates.

The pseudonymous creator of Bitcoin (CRYPTO: BTC), Satoshi Nakamoto, is now richer than tech billionaire Bill Gates, according to an estimate by blockchain analytics firm Arkham.
According to Arkham's analysis, as of Monday morning, Satoshi's Bitcoin (CRYPTO: BTC) wallet is worth about $113.8 billion. In comparison, the Forbes Real-Time Billionaires List estimated Gates' net worth at $112.9 billion.
If Satoshi were to be included in the billionaire rankings, they would be the 12th richest person in the world. For context, the richest person in the world is Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, whose fortune is estimated at $395.6 billion.
For Satoshi to become the richest person in the world, Bitcoin's price would have to rise to $360,000 or more, which seems improbable at the moment.
It's widely believed that Satoshi owns about 1.1 million Bitcoin, which amounts to 5% of the coin's circulating supply.
The identity of Bitcoin's creator has been a subject of speculation since the cryptocurrency's launch in 2009. Several figures in the Bitcoin space, such as Bitcoin Core developer Peter Todd, the late blockchain developer Len Sassaman, and cryptocurrency researcher Nick Szabo, have been linked to Satoshi over the years.
Last year, a documentary titled "Money Electric: The Bitcoin Mystery" claimed that Todd was Satoshi, but Todd himself has denied this claim.
Satoshi's vast wealth comes as Bitcoin has recovered sharply following a U.S.-China trade deal, which could create demand for Bitcoin in China once again.
