The Artificial Superintelligence (ASI) Alliance Adds Cudos as Fourth Member
Sep 11, 2024 at 09:00 pm
The Artificial Superintelligence (ASI) Alliance, recently formed by SingularityNET, Fetch.ai, and Ocean Protocol, has announced the addition of a fourth member.

Artificial Superintelligence (ASI) Alliance Adds Cudos Pending Community Approval
The Artificial Superintelligence (ASI) Alliance, spearheaded by SingularityNET, Fetch.ai and Ocean Protocol, announced the addition of a fourth member to the collective.
Pending community approval, decentralized cloud computing provider Cudos will join the alliance, according to a press release shared with Cointelegraph. The addition will be subject to a vote slated for Sept. 19-24. If approved, the integration will include a token merger between Cudos and the alliance’s FET token.
In a written Q&A with Cointelegraph, Matt Hawkins, founder and CEO of Cudos, elaborated on the development, stating that it “adds computational resources and utility to ASI.”
Fourth-member integration details unveiled
The integration of Cudos into the alliance will introduce a decentralized cloud computing network to the collective, harnessing advanced graphics processing units (GPUs) to bolster AI processing. According to the press release, the ASI Alliance aims to augment its computing prowess with this expansion while simultaneously reducing reliance on centralized providers such as Amazon.
This fourth-member expansion also aligns with the alliance's broader push for the establishment of decentralized cloud infrastructure, which was highlighted in a statement by the group on Sept. 3. In a Q&A with Cointelegraph, Humayun Sheikh, chairman of the ASI Alliance and CEO of Fetch.ai, stated that the group is “actively working” on transitioning the FET token to ASI.

Centralized vs. decentralized: A deeper dive
On the topic of centralization versus decentralization, Sheikh shared his perspective, stating that “decentralized computing is superior to centralized computing/AI.” According to Sheikh, the global distribution of resources facilitates a reduction in “reliance on a single provider, fostering innovation and democratizing access to AI technologies for a diverse range of users.”

Coinbase opts out of ASI migration
Several cryptocurrency exchanges extended support for the automatic migration of the Ocean Protocol native token to FET on July 1, but Coinbase was not among them. On June 27, the centralized crypto exchange announced that it would “not facilitate the migration” process of “OCEAN to FET or FET to ASI on behalf of users.” While Coinbase's lack of support could be seen as a sign of resistance from centralized entities, other centralized exchanges, including Binance, Crypto.com and KuCoin, did participate in the token migration.
