UNI, the native token of the Uniswap decentralized exchange, was created and issued on September 16, 2020, with a total supply of 1 billion tokens.

2. Distribution

Uniswap community: 60% (600 million tokens)
Team and investors: 20% (200 million tokens)
UniGrants: 10% (100 million tokens)
Ecosystem fund: 10% (100 million tokens)

3. Circulation

As of January 19, 2023, the total circulating supply of UNI is approximately 254 million tokens, or 25.4% of the total supply.

4. Usage

UNI tokens have several utilities within the Uniswap ecosystem:

Governance: UNI holders can vote on proposals that influence Uniswap's development and operations.
Protocol fees: A portion of Uniswap's protocol fees is distributed to UNI holders for their participation in governance.
Liquidity provision: UNI tokens can be staked within Uniswap to earn liquidity rewards.

5. Market Value

UNI's price is determined by market supply and demand. As of January 19, 2023, the price of UNI is approximately $6.50, giving it a market capitalization of around $1.64 billion.
