Why is my Trust Wallet balance showing $0 after I imported it?
Trust Wallet’s non-custodial design means imported wallets don’t auto-sync all tokens—users must manually enable networks, add custom tokens, and refresh balances to see on-chain assets.

Wallet Import Process Misunderstandings
1. Trust Wallet does not store private keys on its servers — it is a non-custodial wallet. When users import a wallet using a 12-word recovery phrase, the app reconstructs the same cryptographic identity but does not automatically fetch all associated token balances.
2. The imported wallet starts with an empty address cache. It only displays assets for which the corresponding blockchain networks and token contracts have been manually enabled or previously interacted with.
3. If Ethereum mainnet was not selected during setup, ERC-20 tokens like USDT or UNI will remain invisible even if they exist on-chain.
4. Users often assume balance synchronization is instantaneous and universal across all chains. In reality, each network requires individual configuration and manual token addition for custom contracts.
Network Configuration Errors
1. Trust Wallet supports over 50 EVM-compatible chains and several non-EVM blockchains including Solana and BSC. A missing network setting means transactions and balances on that chain won’t load.
2. For example, importing a wallet holding tokens on Arbitrum One will show $0 unless Arbitrum is explicitly added under Network Settings and the correct RPC endpoint is active.
3. Some newer L2s like Base or Linea are not enabled by default. Their native tokens and deployed contracts won’t appear without manual network registration.
4. Even when a network is enabled, outdated RPC URLs or incorrect chain IDs can break balance polling, returning zero values despite confirmed on-chain holdings.
Token Contract Recognition Failures
1. Trust Wallet relies on a curated list of verified token contracts. Tokens deployed on decentralized exchanges or newly launched projects may not be indexed in its database.
2. Custom BEP-20 or ERC-20 tokens require manual addition via contract address, decimals, and symbol — otherwise they remain undetected during balance scanning.
3. Tokens with dynamic supply mechanisms or proxy-based contracts often fail automated detection due to ABI mismatches or lack of standard interface compliance.
4. Renamed tokens or re-deployed contracts post-audit (e.g., after security fixes) may retain old identifiers, causing Trust Wallet to ignore updated deployments.
Transaction History Syncing Delays
1. Trust Wallet fetches transaction history from public explorers like Etherscan or BscScan. Rate limits or temporary API outages interrupt balance derivation logic.
2. Large wallets with thousands of transactions across multiple chains may exceed local caching thresholds, resulting in incomplete balance aggregation.
3. Pending or failed transactions stuck in mempools can interfere with final balance calculation until confirmed or dropped.
4. Cross-chain bridge transfers sometimes generate intermediate addresses or use wrapped asset representations that Trust Wallet fails to map back to original holdings without explicit token registration.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Does importing a wallet delete my existing assets? No. Importing only grants access to on-chain assets. Your tokens remain immutable on their respective blockchains regardless of wallet software used.
Q: Can I see NFTs after importing?Only if the corresponding chain supports NFT standards (e.g., ERC-721, ERC-1155) and the NFT contract is recognized. Unsupported collections require manual contract entry.
Q: Why do some tokens appear on MetaMask but not Trust Wallet?MetaMask uses real-time contract verification and broader token lists. Trust Wallet prioritizes verified, high-traffic tokens and excludes many low-volume or experimental contracts by default.
Q: Is there a way to force full balance refresh?Yes. Navigate to Settings → Wallet → Refresh Balance. This triggers new calls to all enabled networks’ explorers and recalculates aggregated values.
