Adding XRP to Your Exodus Wallet
1. Launch the Exodus desktop or mobile application and ensure you are logged into your wallet.
2. Click or tap the + Add Asset button located in the asset list or portfolio view.
3. Search for XRP using the search bar and select it from the results.
4. Exodus will automatically configure the necessary network parameters for XRP, including the required destination tag field.
5. Once added, XRP appears in your asset list with real-time balance and price data.
Understanding XRP’s Unique Address Requirements
1. Unlike many other cryptocurrencies, XRP addresses alone are insufficient for receiving funds.
2. A valid destination tag must accompany every incoming XRP transaction — this is a numeric identifier assigned by the recipient.
3. Exodus generates a unique destination tag for each XRP account during setup, visible under the “Receive” screen for XRP.
4. Sending XRP without the correct destination tag may result in permanent loss of funds if the receiving service requires it.
5. Never reuse or manually alter the destination tag unless instructed explicitly by a supported custodial platform.
Receiving XRP into Exodus
1. Navigate to the XRP asset page and click or tap Receive.
2. Exodus displays both the XRP address and the associated destination tag side-by-side in clearly labeled fields.
3. Share both values together — never send just the address or just the tag.
4. Some exchanges display the destination tag as “memo” or “tag”; confirm the label matches before initiating withdrawal.
5. After confirming on-chain receipt, the XRP balance updates instantly within Exodus’s interface.
Sending XRP from Exodus
1. Select XRP in your asset list and click or tap Send.
2. Enter the recipient’s XRP address and their provided destination tag in the designated field.
3. Exodus validates the address format and warns if the destination tag is missing or malformed.
4. Confirm the transaction fee — XRP network fees are fixed and extremely low, typically 0.00001 XRP per transaction.
5. Sign the transaction using your wallet password or device biometrics; the transfer broadcasts immediately to the XRP Ledger.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can I import an XRP private key into Exodus?A: No. Exodus does not support importing XRP private keys. It uses a deterministic wallet structure where keys are generated and secured internally.
Q: What happens if I lose my Exodus backup phrase?A: You will permanently lose access to all assets, including XRP. Exodus does not store or recover backup phrases — they exist solely on your device.
Q: Does Exodus support XRP staking or earning features?A: No. Exodus is a non-custodial wallet and does not offer yield-bearing services for XRP or any other token.
Q: Why does Exodus show “XRP (Ripple)” instead of just “XRP”?A: This reflects historical branding used by early exchanges and block explorers; the underlying asset remains native XRP on the XRP Ledger.
