How to set a passcode on Trust Wallet? How to enable Face ID or Touch ID?

Trust Wallet lets you secure your app with a 4–6-digit passcode, plus Face ID or Touch ID (iOS only), all while keeping biometric data safely on-device.

Setting a Passcode on Trust Wallet

1. Open the Trust Wallet application on your mobile device.

2. Tap the three-dot menu icon located in the top-right corner of the main screen.

3. Select Settings from the dropdown list.

4. Scroll down and tap Security.

5. Tap Passcode to begin setup.

6. Enter a four- to six-digit numeric code when prompted.

7. Re-enter the same code to confirm it.

8. Toggle on Require Passcode to enforce its use every time the app launches or resumes from background.

Enabling Face ID on iOS Devices

1. Ensure your iPhone supports Face ID and runs iOS 12 or later.

2. Navigate to Settings → Security → Face ID inside Trust Wallet.

3. Make sure Passcode is already enabled, as Face ID requires it as a fallback.

4. Toggle on Use Face ID in the biometric section.

5. When prompted, position your face within the frame shown by the system camera preview.

6. Complete the enrollment by following on-screen instructions for two angles.

7. Confirm activation by attempting to unlock the wallet with your face after closing and reopening the app.

Activating Touch ID on Compatible iOS Devices

1. Verify that your device has Touch ID hardware and is running a supported iOS version.

2. Go to Settings → Security → Touch ID in Trust Wallet.

3. Ensure the passcode is active before proceeding — this is mandatory for Touch ID integration.

4. Flip the switch next to Use Touch ID to enable fingerprint authentication.

5. Place your registered finger on the home button when instructed.

6. Lift and reposition your finger multiple times until the system confirms successful registration.

7. Test functionality by minimizing and relaunching Trust Wallet to trigger the fingerprint prompt.

Managing Biometric Authentication Preferences

1. Access Settings → Security at any time to review current authentication methods.

2. Disable Face ID or Touch ID individually without affecting the passcode requirement.

3. Change your passcode directly through the same menu without resetting biometrics.

4. Observe that failed biometric attempts will automatically fall back to the numeric passcode input field.

5. Note that biometric access does not apply to transaction signing — only app unlocking.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I use both Face ID and Touch ID simultaneously on the same device? A: No. Trust Wallet detects the available biometric hardware and allows only one method per device — either Face ID or Touch ID, depending on model capabilities.

Q: What happens if I forget my passcode? A: There is no recovery option. You must delete and reinstall Trust Wallet, then restore your wallet using the original 12-word recovery phrase.

Q: Does enabling biometrics store my fingerprint or facial data on Trust Wallet servers? A: No. All biometric data remains strictly on-device and is processed exclusively by Apple’s Secure Enclave — Trust Wallet never receives or stores such information.

Q: Why does Trust Wallet ask for my passcode even after enabling Face ID? A: This occurs when the app has been force-closed, restarted after a device reboot, or when biometric verification fails more than five times consecutively.
