How to receive crypto on your Ledger Nano X?
Set up your Ledger Nano X by charging it, installing Ledger Live, securing your 24-word phrase and PIN, then add crypto accounts and verify addresses on-device before receiving funds.

Setting Up Your Ledger Nano X for Crypto Reception
1. Ensure your Ledger Nano X is properly unboxed and charged. Connect it to your computer using the provided USB cable. The device must be powered on before proceeding with setup.
2. Install the Ledger Live application from the official Ledger website. This desktop software acts as the interface between your hardware wallet and blockchain networks.
3. Follow the on-screen instructions in Ledger Live to initialize your device. Choose “Set up as new device” and confirm the action on your Ledger Nano X screen by pressing both buttons simultaneously.
4. Write down the 24-word recovery phrase displayed on the device. Store this seed phrase securely offline—never digitally or online. Confirm the recovery phrase within Ledger Live by selecting the words in the correct order.
5. Create a secure PIN code on the device. Avoid common sequences like “1234” or repeating digits. After setting the PIN, your Ledger Nano X is ready to receive cryptocurrencies.
Adding Cryptocurrency Accounts in Ledger Live
1. Open Ledger Live and navigate to the “Accounts” tab. Click on “Add Account” to begin integrating a cryptocurrency you wish to receive.
2. Search for the specific cryptocurrency, such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, or Solana. Select the appropriate network and confirm the addition. Each account corresponds to a unique public address on that blockchain.
Ledger supports over 5,000 digital assets through integrated apps, allowing users to manage multiple currencies from one device.3. Once added, the account will appear in your dashboard. You can view balances, transaction history, and access the receiving functionality directly from this interface.
4. Make sure the relevant app for the cryptocurrency is installed on your Ledger Nano X. For example, to receive Ethereum, the Ethereum app must be open on the device during transactions.
5. Use the Manager section in Ledger Live to install or remove apps. Connect your device, enter your PIN, and approve the installation when prompted on the Ledger screen.
Generating and Sharing Your Receiving Address
1. In Ledger Live, select the account for which you want to receive funds. Click the “Receive” button located at the bottom left of the application window.
2. A pop-up will display your public wallet address—a long string of alphanumeric characters—and a QR code. This address is unique to your account and safe to share with others.
Never share your private keys or recovery phrase. Only distribute your public receiving address for deposits.3. Verify the address shown in Ledger Live matches the one displayed on your Ledger Nano X screen. Physically check the address on the device to prevent malware-based address swapping.
4. Share the address via copy-paste, QR code scan, or manual entry. Senders can use this information across exchanges, wallets, or peer-to-peer platforms to transfer crypto to you.
5. Transactions may take several minutes to appear due to blockchain confirmation times. Monitor the status under the account’s transaction history in Ledger Live.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can I receive multiple cryptocurrencies using the same address?A: No. Each cryptocurrency operates on its own network and requires a unique address. Using a Bitcoin address to receive Ethereum will result in permanent fund loss.
Q: What should I do if my receiving address doesn’t appear on the Ledger device screen?A: Ensure the correct app is open on the Ledger Nano X. Close and reopen the app, then retry the receive process in Ledger Live. Update firmware if issues persist.
Q: Is it safe to reuse a receiving address?A: While technically possible, reusing addresses compromises privacy. It allows third parties to track transaction history linked to that address. Generate a new address for each incoming transaction when feasible.
Q: Why isn’t my received transaction showing up in Ledger Live?A: Confirm the transaction was sent to the correct address and network. Check the blockchain explorer using the transaction ID. Sync issues may require restarting Ledger Live or reconnecting the device.
