How to Import Ledger Nano X Accounts into MetaMask? Guide
Ledger Nano X需先装Ethereum App并打开,再关Ledger Live、连MetaMask导入账户;EVM链(如Moonbeam)共用该App,无需重复安装,安全高效。(154字)

Device Preparation and Software Setup
1. Connect your Ledger Nano X to a computer using the supplied USB-C cable and power it on.
2. Unlock the device by entering your PIN and navigate to the Ethereum application using the side buttons.
3. Ensure Ledger Live is updated to version 2.29 or higher; verify firmware is at least v1.3.0 and Ethereum app is v1.8.5.
4. Install MetaMask as a browser extension in Firefox or Chrome—Firefox offers native compatibility without requiring additional RPC workarounds.
5. Confirm MetaMask is configured to connect to Moonbase Alpha or another compatible EVM network before proceeding.
MetaMask Hardware Wallet Integration
1. Open MetaMask and click the fox icon in the top-right corner to access the account menu.
2. Select “Import Account” and then choose “Hardware Wallet” from the options presented.
3. Click the Ledger logo and proceed to the next screen where MetaMask attempts communication with the device.
4. If no accounts appear, double-check that Ledger Live is closed, the Ethereum app is open on the device, and the USB connection remains stable.
5. Once recognized, five Ethereum-style addresses will display—these correspond to derivation paths m/44'/60'/0'/0/x.
Account Selection and Unlock Confirmation
1. From the list of five addresses, select the one you intend to use for transactions on Moonbeam-compatible networks.
2. Click “Unlock” beside the chosen address—this triggers a signature request on the Ledger Nano X screen.
3. Physically confirm the address path on the device using both side buttons; failure to do so halts the import process.
4. After confirmation, MetaMask displays the imported account with its balance and network identifier.
5. The imported account now supports signing transactions on Moonbase Alpha, Moonriver, and mainnet Moonbeam via MetaMask interface.
Transaction Signing Workflow
1. Initiate any transaction through MetaMask—such as sending tokens or interacting with a dApp—while connected to the correct network.
2. MetaMask forwards the unsigned transaction payload to the Ledger Nano X over USB.
3. The device renders critical fields: recipient address, amount, gas parameters, and smart contract call data—if applicable.
4. Scroll through each field using the side buttons and explicitly approve with both buttons when satisfied.
5. Upon approval, the signed transaction is relayed back to MetaMask and broadcast to the blockchain network.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q1. Why does MetaMask show “No accounts found” even after connecting my Ledger Nano X?It usually occurs when the Ethereum app is not running on the device, Ledger Live is still active, or the browser extension lacks USB permission. Disable Ledger Live completely and re-launch the Ethereum app before retrying.
Q2. Can I import the same Ledger Nano X account into multiple MetaMask instances simultaneously?Yes, but only one instance can sign transactions at a time. Concurrent connections may cause timeout errors or inconsistent state display across interfaces.
Q3. Is it safe to keep the Ethereum app installed while managing other chains like Polygon or Avalanche?Yes—the Ethereum app handles all EVM-compatible networks via Chain ID switching, eliminating the need for duplicate apps unless specific non-EVM features are required.
Q4. What happens if I accidentally reject a transaction signature on the Ledger Nano X screen? The transaction fails silently in MetaMask without broadcasting. No funds are moved, and the nonce remains unchanged—simply reinitiate the action and confirm correctly on-device.
