How to enable Face ID or biometric authentication on Trust Wallet?
To enable Face ID in Trust Wallet on iOS, ensure system-level biometric permissions are granted in Settings > Face ID & Passcode, then toggle “Biometric Authentication” in Trust Wallet’s Security menu.
Dec 10, 2025 at 09:59 pm
Accessing Security Settings in Trust Wallet
1. Open the Trust Wallet application on your iOS device. Ensure the app is updated to the latest version available through the App Store.
2. Tap the profile icon located in the top-right corner of the main wallet screen. This opens the user menu.
3. Select Settings from the dropdown options. Scroll down to locate the Security section.
4. Tap on Biometric Authentication. The toggle will appear grayed out if Face ID or Touch ID has not yet been configured at the system level.
System-Level Biometric Configuration
1. Exit Trust Wallet and navigate to the iOS Settings app.
2. Go to Face ID & Passcode (or Touch ID & Passcode for older devices). Enter your device passcode when prompted.
3. Verify that iPhone Unlock and Other Apps are enabled under the list of biometric permissions.
4. Return to Trust Wallet and revisit the Biometric Authentication setting. The toggle should now be interactive and ready for activation.
Enabling Biometric Authentication Inside Trust Wallet
1. Toggle the switch next to Biometric Authentication to the ON position.
2. A system prompt will appear asking for facial scan confirmation. Position your face within the frame and follow the on-screen animation.
3. After successful verification, Trust Wallet displays a confirmation message indicating biometric login is active.
4. The app will now require Face ID each time it launches or resumes from background—unless manually overridden via the settings menu.
Managing Biometric Preferences
1. Within the same Biometric Authentication menu, users can choose between Always Require and Require After Background modes.
2. Always Require triggers authentication every time the app opens—even after brief interruptions like incoming calls.
3. Require After Background skips verification only during short foreground sessions, offering a balance between convenience and security.
4. Disabling biometrics does not delete wallet data but reverts to passcode-only access for all sensitive operations including transaction signing.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Does enabling Face ID store my biometric data inside Trust Wallet?A: No. Trust Wallet never receives or stores biometric templates. iOS handles all scanning and matching locally using the Secure Enclave. Trust Wallet only receives a yes/no signal from the operating system.
Q: Can I use Face ID to sign transactions directly without entering my password?A: Yes. Once enabled, Face ID replaces manual password entry for approving transfers, swapping tokens, and interacting with dApps—all verified through Apple’s native authentication framework.
Q: What happens if Face ID fails multiple times?A: iOS automatically falls back to device passcode entry after five unsuccessful attempts. Trust Wallet respects this fallback behavior and does not impose additional lockout periods beyond what iOS enforces.
Q: Is biometric authentication supported on Android versions of Trust Wallet?A: Android support relies on device-specific implementations of BiometricPrompt API. While many modern Android devices allow fingerprint or face unlock, Trust Wallet’s Android version uses the system’s biometric service—not Google’s Face Unlock—and may vary across OEMs and Android versions.
