How to Add Ethereum Classic Mainnet (ETC) to MetaMask
MetaMask is a popular cryptocurrency wallet that allows users to store, send, and receive Ethereum and other cryptocurrencies. It can also be used to interact with decentralized applications (dApps) and smart contracts.
Ethereum Classic is a fork of the Ethereum blockchain that was created in 2016. It is similar to Ethereum in many ways, but there are some key differences, such as the way that it handles block rewards and transaction fees.
Adding Ethereum Classic to MetaMask is a simple process that can be completed in a few minutes. Here are the steps on how to do it:
1. Open MetaMask and click on the "Add Network" button. The "Add Network" button is located in the top-right corner of the MetaMask interface.
2. Select "Custom RPC" from the list of options. This will allow you to add a custom network to MetaMask.
3. Enter the following information into the fields provided:Network Name: Ethereum Classic MainnetNew RPC URL: https://www.ethernode.ioChain ID: 61Currency Symbol: ETCBlock Explorer URL: https://blockscout.com/etc/mainnet
4. Click on the "Save" button. This will add Ethereum Classic Mainnet to MetaMask.
5. You can now select Ethereum Classic Mainnet from the list of networks in the MetaMask interface. To do this, click on the "Network" drop-down menu in the top-right corner of the MetaMask interface and select "Ethereum Classic Mainnet".
Additional InformationOnce you have added Ethereum Classic Mainnet to MetaMask, you will be able to store, send, and receive ETC tokens. You can also use MetaMask to interact with dApps and smart contracts on the Ethereum Classic blockchain.
Here are some additional tips for using MetaMask with Ethereum Classic:
- Make sure that you are using the correct RPC URL when adding Ethereum Classic Mainnet to MetaMask. If you use an incorrect RPC URL, you will not be able to connect to the Ethereum Classic blockchain.
- Keep your MetaMask seed phrase safe. Your seed phrase is used to recover your MetaMask wallet if you lose your password or if your wallet is compromised. Do not share your seed phrase with anyone.
- Be aware of the risks associated with using MetaMask. MetaMask is a non-custodial wallet, which means that you are responsible for the security of your own funds. Make sure that you take steps to protect your wallet from hackers and malware.
If you are having trouble adding Ethereum Classic Mainnet to MetaMask, here are some troubleshooting tips:
- Make sure that you are using the latest version of MetaMask.
- Try using a different RPC URL.
- Clear your browser's cache and cookies.
- Restart your browser.
- If you are still having trouble, you can contact MetaMask support for help.
