Accessing the BTC/USDT Trading Interface
1. Log in to your Bitget account using verified credentials and complete two-factor authentication.
2. Navigate to the “Trade” section from the top navigation bar and select “Spot” to enter the spot trading dashboard.
3. Use the search bar to type “BTC/USDT” and click on the matching pair to load the order book, chart, and order entry panel.
4. Confirm that the trading interface displays real-time bid/ask prices, 24-hour volume, and price change percentage before proceeding.
5. Ensure your USDT and BTC wallet balances are visible under the “Assets” tab adjacent to the trading panel.
Placing a Market Order for BTC/USDT
1. In the order entry box, select “Market” as the order type.
2. Enter the desired amount of USDT you wish to spend—or the quantity of BTC you intend to buy—depending on the selected input mode.
3. Click “Buy BTC” or “Sell BTC” to submit the order immediately at the best available price in the order book.
4. A confirmation modal appears showing estimated execution price and total fees; review before confirming.
5. Once executed, the transaction appears instantly in your “Order History”, and the corresponding balance updates in your spot wallet.
Setting a Limit Order for BTC/USDT
1. Choose “Limit” from the order type dropdown menu located above the price input field.
2. Input the exact price at which you want to buy or sell BTC, expressed in USDT per BTC.
3. Specify the quantity of BTC (for buy/sell) or the equivalent USDT value (if using “Quote Amount” toggle).
4. Enable “Post-Only” if you wish to ensure your order is added only as a maker and never executes as a taker.
5. Press “Buy BTC” or “Sell BTC”; the order appears in the “Open Orders” tab until matched or manually canceled.
Monitoring and Managing Active Orders
1. Open orders remain visible in the “Open Orders” section below the order entry panel with status indicators such as “Partially Filled” or “Pending”.
2. Hover over the “Actions” column to reveal options: “Cancel”, “Modify”, or “Reduce Size” for partially filled orders.
3. Canceled orders appear in “Order History” with a “Canceled” status and zero fill rate.
4. Partially filled limit orders retain remaining quantity and continue to rest in the order book at the specified price.
5. Use the “Advanced” toggle to view time-in-force options like GTC (Good-Til-Canceled) or IOC (Immediate-Or-Cancel) when placing new limit orders.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q1. Why does my market order execute at a different price than shown in the order book?Market orders consume liquidity across multiple price levels when the requested size exceeds the top-level depth; slippage occurs due to insufficient resting volume at the best bid or ask.
Q2. Can I place a limit order without sufficient balance in the base or quote currency? No. Bitget validates available balance before order submission. If USDT is insufficient for a buy limit order—or BTC is insufficient for a sell—the interface displays an error and blocks submission.
Q3. What happens to a limit order when the BTC/USDT price moves significantly away from my set price? The order remains active and visible in the order book until canceled or fully executed. It does not auto-adjust or expire unless configured with a time-in-force other than GTC.
Q4. Is there a fee difference between market and limit orders on Bitget?Yes. Market orders incur taker fees, while limit orders placed with Post-Only enabled qualify for maker fee rates, which are typically lower and sometimes negative for high-tier VIP users.
