How to Delete Your Coinbase Account

Step 1: Ensure Account Balance is Zero

Before deleting your Coinbase account, ensure that you have transferred all funds and assets to a different wallet or platform. Coinbase will not allow account deletion if there is any remaining balance.

Step 2: Disable Two-Factor Authentication

For security reasons, Coinbase requires you to disable two-factor authentication before proceeding with account deletion. Go to your Account Settings and navigate to the "Security" tab. Click on "Disable Two-Factor Authentication" and follow the prompts.

Step 3: Contact Coinbase Support

Once your account balance is zero and two-factor authentication is disabled, reach out to Coinbase support at support.coinbase.com. In your message, state that you would like to delete your account.

Step 4: Verify Your Identity

Coinbase may require you to verify your identity before processing your request. They will ask for personal information such as your full name, date of birth, and government-issued ID.

Step 5: Submit Deletion Request

After verifying your identity, Coinbase will send you a confirmation email. Click on the link in the email to confirm your account deletion request.

Step 6: Account Deactivation

Your Coinbase account will be deactivated immediately after completing the deletion process. All data associated with your account will be permanently deleted within 30 days.

Additional Notes:

  • Once your Coinbase account is deleted, you cannot retrieve it or any of the associated data.
  • If you have any pending transactions or open positions, they will be canceled and funds will be returned to your original wallet.
  • If you change your mind and want to reactivate your account later, you will need to create a new one.
