How to check your trading fee level on Gate.io? (VIP Tiers)
Gate.io’s Fee Plan Dashboard shows real-time VIP tiers, GT-based fee rates for spot/futures, and auto-updating UTC daily snapshots—no manual refresh needed.
Apr 18, 2026 at 08:40 pm
Accessing the Fee Plan Dashboard
1. Log in to your Gate.io account via the official website or mobile application using verified credentials.
2. Navigate to the top-right corner and click on your profile icon, then select “Fees Plan” from the dropdown menu.
3. The page loads a real-time table showing your current VIP tier, applicable Maker/Taker rates for spot and futures, and required thresholds for the next level.
4. All values reflect UTC 00:00 daily snapshots—no manual refresh is needed as data updates automatically each day.
5. Hover over any fee percentage to view a tooltip explaining how it applies across trading types and asset pairs.
Understanding GT-Based Tier Calculation
1. Your VIP level is determined by two parallel metrics: GT balance held in your spot wallet and 30-day cumulative trading volume denominated in USDT or BTC.
2. GT must remain static for at least 30 consecutive days; transfers between wallets or withdrawals reset the holding clock.
3. The system uses the lowest GT balance recorded during the 30-day window—not the average or peak—as the qualifying amount.
4. Trading volume is calculated strictly from executed orders only; canceled or partially filled orders do not contribute.
5. Both metrics are evaluated independently—meeting either one qualifies you for the corresponding tier.
Spot vs Futures Fee Alignment
1. Spot and futures VIP tiers share identical qualification criteria and rate tables—no separate evaluation is performed for derivatives.
2. A user holding sufficient GT for VIP 4 in spot trading automatically receives VIP 4 treatment on all futures contracts including perpetuals and options.
3. Fee reductions apply uniformly across all contract types: USDT-margined, BTC-margined, and inverse swaps.
4. Maker/Taker distinctions persist in futures but with adjusted percentages—VIP 6 users pay 0.005% as Maker and 0.025% as Taker on most instruments.
5. No additional verification or opt-in is required—the alignment activates instantly upon tier change confirmation.
Fee Display During Order Execution
1. When placing a spot order, the preview panel shows “Fee (after GT discount)” and “Final Fee (after VIP)” as separate line items.
2. For futures orders, the order confirmation screen displays “Estimated Fee” with breakdowns showing base rate, VIP reduction, and GT deduction applied sequentially.
3. Hovering over the final fee value reveals a dynamic calculation trace: (notional × base rate) × (1 − VIP discount %) × (1 − GT discount %).
4. These figures update in real time as price, size, or GT balance changes—no page reload is necessary.
5. After execution, the transaction history reflects the exact fee amount deducted, matching the pre-trade estimate within rounding tolerance.
Verification Through API Integration
1. Developers can retrieve current fee tier information via the /account/fee/tier endpoint in Gate.io’s v4 REST API.
2. The response includes current_tier, next_tier_threshold, and tier_effective_at timestamps.
3. Authentication requires an API key with “Account Read” permission enabled—no write access is needed for fee queries.
4. Rate values returned are normalized to decimal format: e.g., 0.00025 instead of 0.025% for computational consistency.
5. Responses are cached for 60 seconds to prevent excessive polling; repeated calls within that window return identical data.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Does holding GT in a margin or futures wallet count toward VIP tier calculation?Only GT held in the spot wallet qualifies. GT in isolated margin accounts, cross-margin balances, or futures sub-accounts is excluded from the assessment.
Q: Can I see historical fee tier changes for my account?Gate.io does not provide an audit log of past tier transitions. The Fees Plan page shows only current status and next-level requirements.
Q: If my GT balance drops below the threshold mid-cycle, when does the downgrade take effect?Downgrades occur at the next UTC 00:00 snapshot following seven consecutive days of non-compliance. Temporary dips do not trigger immediate demotion.
Q: Are referral bonuses factored into VIP tier determination?Referral rewards credited as GT are included once settled into the spot wallet, provided they remain there for the full 30-day holding period.
