What Happens When Your Binance Futures Margin Ratio Reaches 100%?

当账户保证金比率达100%时,系统立即冻结交易、可用资金归零、所有挂单自动撤销,并触发“LIQUIDATION IMMINENT”红色闪警,进入强制平仓队列。

Jul 16, 2026 at 07:40 pm

Immediate Consequences of Hitting 100% Margin Ratio

1. The system instantly halts all new order placements for the affected position.

2. Available balance drops to zero, eliminating capacity for additional margin injections.

3. All open orders linked to that position are automatically canceled without manual intervention.

4. The account status shifts to “Liquidation Pending”, triggering internal risk engine evaluation within milliseconds.

5. A red flashing banner appears in the Binance Futures interface with the label LIQUIDATION IMMINENT.

How Binance Calculates Margin Ratio in Real Time

1. Margin Ratio = (Used Margin ÷ Wallet Balance) × 100%, where Used Margin equals total initial margin across all active positions.

2. Wallet Balance includes unrealized PnL but excludes pending deposits or withdrawals in transit.

3. The value refreshes every 200 milliseconds during active trading sessions.

4. For isolated margin mode, each symbol’s ratio is computed independently using only its allocated margin and corresponding PnL.

5. In cross-margin mode, the denominator aggregates all assets held in the futures wallet, including USDT, BUSD, and stablecoin balances.

Platform-Level Responses at Critical Thresholds

1. At 95%, Binance displays a pulsing warning icon next to the Margin Ratio field and sends push notifications through the official app.

2. At 98%, automatic reduction of leverage is disabled, preventing users from adjusting risk exposure mid-session.

3. At exactly 100%, the position enters forced liquidation queue; no manual close order can override this state.

4. If the ratio remains at or above 100% for more than 1.8 seconds, the matching engine initiates partial liquidation starting with the largest loss-making leg.

5. Liquidated positions appear under “Closed Orders” with execution price marked as AUTO-LIQUIDATED.

API Behavior During Margin Crisis

1. The /fapi/v1/positionRisk endpoint returns “liquidationPrice”: 0.0 when ratio hits 100%, signaling irreversible state.

2. POST /fapi/v1/marginType requests fail with error code -4046, indicating margin type lock during crisis.

3. Websocket stream ACCOUNT_UPDATE events include “marginCall”: true and “liquidation”: true flags simultaneously.

4. Historical order queries via /fapi/v1/userTrades omit entries executed after liquidation initiation timestamp.

5. The /fapi/v1/account endpoint shows “totalWalletBalance”: 0.0 and “availableBalance”: 0.0 for impacted sub-accounts.

Visual Indicators Across Device Types

1. Desktop web interface highlights the Margin Ratio number in solid red background with white bold font.

2. iOS app overlays a translucent red layer over the entire contract trading screen upon reaching 100%.

3. Android version vibrates three times consecutively and locks swipe gestures on the position panel.

4. TradingView integration disables chart drawing tools and replaces indicators with RISK LOCK ACTIVE watermark.

5. Terminal-based CLI clients emit ASCII art skull-and-crossbones symbol followed by exact liquidation timestamp in UTC.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Does Binance deduct fees from my wallet balance before or after liquidation triggers?A: Fees are deducted after liquidation completes; the final balance reflects trading fee, insurance fund contribution, and liquidation penalty in sequence.

Q: Can I withdraw remaining equity if my margin ratio hits 100% but liquidation hasn’t executed yet?A: No. Withdrawal functionality is disabled the moment margin ratio reaches 99.99%; the system freezes all outbound transfers until position resolution.

Q: Why does my position show “Margin Ratio: 100%” while the liquidation price field displays “N/A”?A: This occurs when market depth collapses below required slippage tolerance; Binance marks the position unliquidatable and escalates to manual review queue.

Q: Is there any difference between “Margin Ratio” and “Risk Rate” in Binance’s internal systems?A: No. Both terms refer to identical calculation logic and threshold enforcement; “Risk Rate” appears exclusively in OKX documentation while Binance uses “Margin Ratio” consistently across UI and API.
