USDT-M Futures how to use multi-assets mode? (Collateral Guide)
Multi-assets mode in USDT-M futures lets traders use BTC, ETH, SOL, and other supported assets as dynamic margin collateral—automatically weighted by price, volatility, and risk—without manual transfers or activation.

Understanding Multi-Assets Mode in USDT-M Futures
1. Multi-assets mode allows traders to use multiple supported assets as margin collateral within a single USDT-M futures wallet.
2. This mode replaces the traditional single-collateral approach, enabling dynamic allocation across assets like BTC, ETH, SOL, and others without manual transfers between wallets.
3. The system automatically calculates each asset’s contribution to margin based on its real-time price, volatility coefficient, and haircut rate defined by the exchange.
4. Assets held in the USDT-M wallet are instantly eligible for collateral use upon deposit—no activation step or separate pledge action is required.
5. Margin utilization is displayed in real time under the “Available Margin” section, showing both total effective collateral value and breakdown per asset.
Supported Collateral Assets and Their Parameters
1. BTC, ETH, BNB, SOL, ADA, DOT, and XRP are among the most widely accepted assets, each assigned a unique risk weight ranging from 5% to 20%.
2. Risk weights determine how much of an asset’s market value counts toward margin: a 10% weight means only 90% of its USD-equivalent value contributes to usable margin.
3. Assets with higher volatility—such as MEME tokens or newly listed coins—may be excluded entirely or carry risk weights above 30%, effectively limiting their utility.
4. Stablecoins other than USDT—including USDC and DAI—are accepted but typically assigned a 0% risk weight, meaning their full nominal value is counted as margin.
5. Asset eligibility and risk parameters update dynamically; changes are reflected immediately in the margin calculation engine without requiring user confirmation.
Margin Calculation Mechanics in Real-Time
1. Total effective margin equals the sum of (asset balance × current USD price × (1 − risk weight)) across all deposited assets.
2. When opening a position, the system deducts initial margin requirements from this aggregated pool—not from any specific asset ledger.
3. Liquidation triggers when total effective margin falls below maintenance margin level, calculated using the same weighted sum methodology.
4. Partial liquidations may sell portions of multiple assets simultaneously, prioritized by lowest risk-adjusted liquidity score rather than deposit order.
5. Funding payments, PnL settlements, and fee deductions are settled in USDT, but sourced proportionally from the underlying collateral pool based on real-time weight distribution.
Asset Conversion and Forced Liquidation Behavior
1. During margin shortfall events, the platform initiates auto-conversion of non-USDT collateral into USDT at prevailing market rates via integrated RFQ engines.
2. Conversion priority follows a fixed sequence: stablecoins first, then BTC, ETH, and so on—aligned with historical price stability and order book depth metrics.
3. No slippage protection is applied during forced conversions; execution occurs at best available bid/ask across connected liquidity providers.
4. If conversion fails due to insufficient depth or circuit breaker activation, the position enters immediate liquidation regardless of remaining collateral balances.
5. Post-liquidation residual balances—expressed in original asset forms—are credited back to the wallet after netting out fees and losses.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can I withdraw collateral assets while holding open positions?A: Yes, but only if the withdrawal does not reduce total effective margin below the required maintenance level. The system blocks attempts that would trigger immediate liquidation risk.
Q: Why did my ETH collateral contribute less margin than expected?A: ETH carries a 12% risk weight on most platforms. If ETH trades at $3,200, only $2,816 per coin counts toward margin—$384 is reserved as buffer against volatility.
Q: Does transferring BTC into my USDT-M wallet automatically enable it as collateral?A: Yes. Deposited BTC becomes part of the multi-asset margin pool instantly. No additional toggle or approval is needed.
Q: Are there fees for using non-USDT assets as margin?A: No direct fee applies for collateral usage. However, forced conversions during liquidation incur standard taker fees and potential slippage costs borne by the user.
