U.S. Senator Dave McCormick, the former chief executive of large hedge fund Bridgewater Associates, is personally investing in bitcoin (BTC) as the committee he's on is at the forefront of a legislative push to regulate the digital assets industry.

McCormick has made several recent investments in the Bitwise Bitcoin ETF, to the tune of several hundred thousand dollars, according to disclosures this week. Due to the ranges used for such lawmaker disclosures, the latest amounts invested last month can only be stated as between $310,000 and $700,000.

Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, a Georgia Republican, invested a much smaller amount, preferring BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust (NYSE:IBTC).

The Republican senator from Pennsylvania, who has held a series of high-level government positions throughout his career, is a newcomer to the Senate and was assigned to the Senate Banking’s Committee’s subcommittee that handles digital assets. This group of lawmakers is likely at the heart of the upcoming action on crypto legislation, which is anticipated to advance this year.

He stated at the subcommittee’s first digital assets hearing in February, "This Congress must work alongside President Trump to pass bipartisan digital asset legislation that will guide the future of innovation and secure a robust economic future for the U.S."
