Semler Scientific (SMLR) Announces a $15.7M Investment in Bitcoin, Expanding Its Holdings by 165 BTC

Semler Scientific (NASDAQ:SMLR) announced today that it has expanded its Bitcoin holdings.

The company’s additional acquisition of 165 BTC between April 25 and April 29, 2025, was purchased for $15.7M at an average price of $94,931 per Bitcoin.

The additional Bitcoin purchase was funded through proceeds from the company’s at-the-market (ATM) equity offering program. During the course of the program, Semler sold 559,000 shares, which it valued at approximately $19.5M in net proceeds during that period.

Semler Scientific continues buying Bitcoin

As of April 29, 2025, Semler’s total Bitcoin holdings are reported as 3,467 BTC. The value is estimated at $306M, averaging $88,263 per Bitcoin. According to the Bitcoin price reported on the Coinbase exchange at 4:00 PM ET on that date, the market value of these holdings was approximately $330.6M.

Semler also reported a year-to-date BTC Yield of 23.8% on April 29, 2025. It has seen its basic shares outstanding increase from 9.5 million at the end of 2024 to 9.85 million by April 24, 2025. The assumed diluted shares outstanding, which include potential conversions from convertible notes and stock options, have risen to 11.9 million.

The increase is partly due to the issuance of 2,030 convertible notes with capped calls at a conversion price of $107.01, totaling 934,000 shares.

The company stated that it will report its financial results for the first quarter of 2025, which ended on March 31, 2025, after the close of U.S. financial markets on Tuesday, May 13, 2025.

Following the release of the financial results, the company will hold a conference call hosted by its CEO, Doug Murphy-Chutorian, along with other senior executives at 4:30 PM ET the same day.

Semler benefits from its Bitcoin strategy

By integrating Bitcoin into its treasury, Semler intends to enhance shareholder value and protect itself from potential economic uncertainties.

The company’s investors can use its BTC Yield to assess the effectiveness of this strategy. However, BTC Yield is not a traditional financial performance measure and should be considered alongside other financial metrics.

The company’s stock price currently stands at $32.74, and it may be the result of various factors and not necessarily based on the company’s Bitcoin holdings.
