XRP lawyer John Morgan has publicly criticized Senator Cynthia Lummis and labeled her among the worst Bitcoin maximalists for her approach to cryptocurrency legislation.

Morgan’s comments came in response to a canceled meeting between Lummis and Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse.

"I've posted many warnings about @SenLummis Some of her comments put her alongside some of the worst Bitcoin maxis around," Morgan stated.

He added that Lummis’ comments were so extreme, they put her in the same camp as the most hardcore Bitcoin maximalists in the industry. The lawyer accused the Wyoming Senator of championing Bitcoin exceptionalism rather than supporting a level playing field for all cryptocurrencies.

The criticism follows Garlinghouse’s public statement about his canceled meeting with Lummis, who serves as Chair of the Digital Assets Subcommittee. The Ripple CEO had planned to discuss pro-crypto legislation around stablecoins and market structure during his visit to Washington, D.C.

However, he noted that he was disappointed to announce Lummis has canceled their meeting and refused to reschedule despite his role as CEO of a major cryptocurrency company.

Lummis has been a key figure in the bipartisan effort to pass the GENIUS Act, which would create a regulatory framework for stablecoins in the United States. The bill, which is co-sponsored by Democratic Senator Jack Reed and Republican Senator Bill Hagerty, passed a procedural vote in the Senate on Friday.
