The first day of trading for ether exchange-traded funds (ETFs) saw over $1 billion in trading volume, according to data from Bloomberg. However, it's important to note that trading volume only reflects the total dollar amount of shares that were exchanged and does not provide any indication of whether these trades represent inflows or outflows.

To put this in perspective, the launch day of spot bitcoin ETFs saw $4.5 billion in trading volume, but only about $600 million of that actually constituted inflows.

Out of the seven ether ETFs that began trading on Monday, Grayscale's Ethereum Trust (ETHE) saw the highest volume with about $458 million, which is nearly half of the total volume. This could potentially indicate outflows, as Grayscale's fund is designed to trade at a premium to its net asset value (NAV).

All the other six funds saw less than $100 million in trading volume, with 21Shares' Core Ethereum ETF (ETHC) seeing the least traction on day one.
