In a research report published Thursday, JPMorgan (JPM) highlighted recent news that the SEC is investigating entities affiliated with the Ethereum Foundation. This view was first expressed in January, with the SEC facing a deadline of May 23 to make final rulings on some ETF applications. The regulatory body's approval of spot bitcoin (BTC) ETFs in January had sparked speculation about the possibility of similar approvals for ETH, the native token of the Ethereum blockchain. The analysts, led by Nikolaos Panigirtzoglou, predict that "if there is no spot ether ETF approval in May, then we assume there is going to be litigation against the SEC after May."
