The Arbitrum DAO approved the use of 225 million ARB tokens, valued at approximately $190 million, to support the network's gaming ecosystem through the "Gaming Catalyst Program" (GCP).

According to the GCP's first transparency report, published on Wednesday, its contributors have established an initial entity structure to facilitate investment mandates and another structure to support GCP staffing and compensation frameworks.

The report also highlights the program's expenses, which currently total nearly $1.2 million. A vast majority of these costs, 93.5%, went towards legal fees for setting up various entities and administrative expenses, including salaries for team members.

The GCP contributors will begin allocating funds to gaming projects in Q1 of 2025 and will continue expanding the team to enhance operational capabilities.

While the program has yet to make any investments or grants, the report indicates that the aim is to fund a total of 100 projects over a three-year period.

As noted in a post on Arbitrum's governance forum earlier this week by Dan Peng, a member of the operating team for the program, "As of December 29th, 2024, we have 64 projects in the pipeline and a highly active funnel of interest from game builders through our new website and submission form."

Data from CoinGecko shows that ARB, the native governance token for Arbitrum, has experienced an increase of over 8% in the last 24 hours. However, the token has declined roughly 58% in the past year and is currently trading at 83.5 cents, giving the cryptocurrency a market cap of $3.5 billion.
