Worldcoin has announced that its World ID will integrate into the Solana (SOL) ecosystem following a grant of around $70,000 to Wormhole Labs from the Worldcoin Foundation.

World ID is a key component of the Worldcoin project, which aims to provide a decentralized and privacy-preserving method of digital identity verification. By scanning a person's eye with the Worldcoin Orb, an IrisCode is generated, which serves as the basis for creating a World ID.

This process is designed to verify "humanness" and ensure that the user is not a bot or automated program. Once verified, users can interact with the World app, which enables them to share information while maintaining the privacy of their personal data through the identification system.

In addition to serving as a digital identity, the World App also functions as a crypto wallet, allowing users to store Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH) and USDC.

To further drive the project's momentum, the Worldcoin Foundation has launched a grant program, allocating over $830,000 in WLD tokens to support various initiatives.

Wormhole facilitates the transfer of data and assets across over 30 blockchains, including Solana, Ethereum and Binance Smart Chain (BNB).

This integration will enable Solana-based protocols to verify World IDs that were originally authenticated on Ethereum. For instance, a Solana protocol could request a proof of World ID verification from Ethereum via Wormhole Queries.
