Special Operations Group (SOG) of Vadodara in Gujarat on Thursday seized a large quantity of Codeine-based cough syrup bottles and Tramadol capsules from a godown. The total value of the seized drugs is estimated at Rs 25.54 lakh.

The SOG officials were acting on a tip-off and arrived at the residences of the accused, Vipul Rajput and Keyur Rajput, in the morning.

During the searches, the SOG sleuths recovered codeine-based cough syrup to the tune of Rs 7.89 lakh and placed both the accused under arrest.

The biggest haul was made at a godown near the Rajpur bus stand in Patan, where 37,198 bottles were found.

The primary suspect, a former medical store owner whose licence had been previously revoked for similar offences, was found illegally stockpiling and selling these syrups.
