MakerDAO, a decentralized organization best known for its stablecoin DAI, is reportedly considering a rebrand to return to its original name, Sky.

According to a post on the MakerDAO forum on Monday, the organization’s legal counsel has proposed changing MakerDAO’s legal name back to Sky Technology, LLC. The proposal states that the name change would be effective on March 13, and the organization would begin operating under its new name on that date.

The proposal also notes that the name change would not affect any of MakerDAO’s operations or activities. The organization would continue to operate in the same manner and would still be responsible for the governance and maintenance of DAI.

MakerDAO changed its name to Sky Technology, LLC in 2018, shortly after the launch of DAI. However, the organization began using the MakerDAO name again in 2020.

The proposal to change MakerDAO’s legal name back to Sky Technology, LLC is now open for discussion and feedback from the MakerDAO community.
