Immutable (IMX) is launching IMX staking on its zkEVM platform, offering fortnightly rewards for active participants. This move continues a shift in the rewarding structure that aims to recognize active engagement within the Immutable ecosystem, beginning June 19, 2025.

Currently, Immutable has been distributing staking rewards on the Immutable X platform, with a total of 4.8 million IMX tokens allocated to the community, averaging 67,605 IMX weekly. However, with the transition towards the zkEVM platform, staking on Immutable X will cease on June 19, 2025. All funds will be automatically unstaked and returned to users' wallets, marking the end of the 73rd epoch.

To continue earning rewards, users must transition their staked IMX to the zkEVM platform. They can either bridge their funds immediately or wait for an automatic transition post-merge of the Immutable X and zkEVM chains. Nonetheless, manual staking on zkEVM is necessary for reward eligibility.

The new staking mechanism on Immutable zkEVM involves a fortnightly rewards cycle. Participants must trade at least one NFT on a marketplace integrated with the Immutable zkEVM orderbook and have staked IMX during the cycle to be eligible for rewards. These rewards, derived from 20% of protocol fees, are calculated based on the amount and duration of staked IMX tokens.

To migrate their IMX to zkEVM, users can use a bridge to move their funds. The recommended method is to use Layerswap to bridge directly from Immutable X to zkEVM. Alternatively, users can bridge IMX to Ethereum and then to zkEVM. After bridging, users need to stake their IMX on the zkEVM staking page, which launches on June 19.

The launch of IMX staking on Immutable zkEVM offers new opportunities for token holders to earn rewards and participate in the growing Immutable ecosystem. Existing stakers on Immutable X are encouraged to transition to zkEVM to continue earning rewards.
