In a significant move that strengthens its embrace of blockchain technology, Google has extended its search functionality to encompass wallet balance lookups for premier blockchain ecosystems beyond Ethereum. This expansion grants users seamless access to token balances on their wallets across the Bitcoin, Arbitrum, Avalanche, Optimism, Polygon, and Fantom networks.
Upon entering a wallet address in Google's search bar, users are presented with a comprehensive display of the wallet's token balance within the respective network. This information is accompanied by a timestamp indicating the last update of the balance, ensuring the latest data is provided.
"Wallet balances only reflect native tokens for each network. The balance shown represents the status at the time of the most recent external transaction. Updates are not instantaneous," Google elucidates in its search results.
This enhancement follows Google's earlier introduction of wallet balance search for Ethereum Name Service (ENS) domains. ENS assigns readable domain names to Ethereum wallet addresses, such as "vitalik.eth" for Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin.
These advancements build upon Google's initial foray into blockchain integration last May, when it introduced wallet balance search for Ethereum addresses. This feature empowered users to effortlessly ascertain wallet balances by simply entering the public address in the search field.
