Coinbase, one of the largest cryptocurrency exchanges by daily trading volume, is listing the PNUT coin project. Meanwhile, South Korea-based Bithumb also announced important listing announcements for two altcoins. Here are the details.
Coinbase lists PNUT coinCoinbase, one of the top crypto exchange platforms, said it will support Peanut the Squirrel (PNUT coin), a meme coin operating on the Solana network. However, Coinbase warns users that they must be keen and make sure they are trading strictly on the Solana network, otherwise they could lose their funds. Through its X platform, Coinbase further clarified that transfers for PNUT will be available on Coinbase and Coinbase Exchange in regions where trading is supported. It used the following statements to convey this information:
“If liquidity conditions are met, trading will begin on January 14, 2025. Once this asset is sufficiently supplied, trading will be phased in on our PNUT-USD trading pair. PNUT support may be restricted in some supported jurisdictions.”
PNUT is becoming increasingly popular and attracting the attention of different crypto exchanges. KuCoin was the first to announce the listing of the meme coin in early November before it started trading on November 11, 2024. Coinbase’s announcement came just in time for the cryptocurrency as it caused the coin to jump almost 30% to trade at $1.29. This is a significant change considering the coin is so new to the market. Currently, the meme coin has a market capitalization of $1.28 billion.
PNUT started when the New York City Department of Conservation euthanized a squirrel mascot named Peanut. The incident sparked controversy, went viral and trended on social media. Soon the meme turned into a digital asset with a large following on Crypto Twitter and reached a significant market capitalization. Meme coin is trading above its peers, including POPCAT and MOG COIN.
