Recently, a group of researchers led by Aki Hakimi published a study titled “Renewable energy and cryptocurrency: A dual approach to economic viability and environmental sustainability.” The paper features peer-reviewed evidence indicating that integrating Bitcoin mining in a solar farm would allow the project to reach its return on investment (ROI) more than two times faster than opting out of the model.

On the other hand, simply focusing on selling the electricity to the grid without the BTC mining operations could extend the project’s ROI to 8.1 years.
