The latest price analysis of Binance Coin (BNB) shows that the crypto remains unable to break through a key resistance level despite the recent news of a VanEck filing for a U.S. ETF on Binance Coin.
The price of BNB got a small lift after VanEck submitted an application for a spot Bitcoin ETF, becoming the first to do so this year. This follows closely the REFs filed by BlackRock and Fidelity, sparking hopes of swift approval.
The proposal also includes staking, which could further boost demand for BNB if the ETF is approved. Moreover, the application mentions a close collaboration with a market maker to ensure liquidity, a crucial factor for successful ETF launch and maintenance.
However, the crypto price failed to move past the strong $660 resistance, which had previously capped its 2021 all-time high. On the long-term charts, a support trendline appears to be holding, but indicators like MACD and RSI are still showing mixed signals.
Even with the ETF news and a slight price uptick, the technical setup suggests that it’s best to approach this move with caution. The current Elliott Wave count suggests that a corrective phase may be unfolding, with potential for further decline towards the $440 support.
After hitting lows around $380, the price bounced back, forming a five-wave structure from the lows, which is typically associated with a complete Elliott Wave degree. This bounce could be viewed as the c-wave of a larger corrective three-wave structure, usually unfolding in a steeper fashion than the a-wave.
The steeper structure is evident considering the a-wave completed in December 2022, and the c-wave appears to be unfolding more quickly. Both waves iii and v of the c-wave moved swiftly, largely unhindered.
The final wave, v, completed around $548, setting the stage for a rally towards the c-wave's high. This rally could be aiming for the Fib (38.2%) level from the high of the c-wave to the low of the a-wave, reaching approximately $660.
The Fib (38.2%) level at $660 also coincides with a significant price resistance, having capped the price twice previously, in January 2023 and December 2021, at the all-time high.
This confluence of technical factors suggests that the price might face difficulty breaking through the $660 mark, despite the recent bullish news and a strong bounce from the lows.
