Rumors of a meme coin launch tied to former President Donald Trump’s social media platform, Truth Social, have been shut down by Trump-affiliated organizations, following a viral post that set meme coin circles ablaze.
Speculation over the coin kicked off when Crypto Banter host Ran Neuner claimed on X that a meme coin was in the works and could be released as early as Friday. The post, which hinted at ties to the same team behind the $TRUMP token, quickly drew interest from traders eager to ride the next election-season crypto wave.
However, the buzz was quickly dismissed by Truth Social and World Liberty Financial (WLFI), a DeFi initiative aligned with Trump. Both organizations labeled the reports false and warned followers not to fall for opportunistic scams.
Donald Trump Jr. also joined in, stating bluntly that “there’s no truth whatsoever” to claims about a Truth Social coin.
Despite the clear denials, confusion lingered online. Some users noted the presence of “$DJT” in the platform’s display name on X, fueling speculation that a ticker-like reference might hint at a future crypto release.
Others pointed to past comments from Trump Media & Technology Group CEO Devin Nunes, who previously floated the idea of a utility token tied to platform engagement.
In May, Nunes spoke about plans to introduce a token that could be used to reward users for their activity on the platform. The token would be designed to foster a sense of community and provide tangible benefits to Truth Social participants.
However, despite these speculations and rumors, no official announcements or confirmations regarding a crypto token have been made by Trump, his family members, or any of the organizations affiliated with him or his political campaigns.
